Cargill Limited to close Humboldt grain operations

WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Cargill announced today, the discontinuation of its Humboldt, Saskatchewan, grain elevator operations, effective Jan. 31, 2008. Cargill will continue to provide customer service at the existing Horizon Fertilizers location, including administration, pricing, grain sampling/moisture testing and the issuance of grain checks.
As part of a longstanding commitment to maintain a sustainable, efficient and cost-effective network of farm products and services, Cargill will utilize its existing operations in Clavet, Saskatchewan to ensure a seamless transition in supporting local farm customers’ needs.
“The decision for Humboldt came after serious consideration as to how to best provide our valued farmers with the diverse and timely services and products they need in the management of their business,” said Blaine Duncan, manager of Cargill’s Prairieland f arm service group. “We remain deeply committed to our farm and upstream customers and will provide an enhanced level of customer service, support and professionalism through our realigned network. We will continue to evolve our operations in order to provide solutions on which farmers can depend.”
