Cargill Limited to close Aberdeen grain operations

WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Cargill announced today the discontinuation of its Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, grain elevator operations, effective May 31, 2008.  Cargill will continue to provide customer service at the existing facility, including crop input products and services.

As part of a longstanding commitment to maintain a sustainable, efficient and cost-effective network of farm products and services, Cargill will utilize its existing operations in Clavet, Saskatchewan to ensure a seamless transition in supporting local farm customers’ needs.

“The decision for Aberdeen came after serious consideration as to how to best provide our valued farmers with the diverse and timely services and products they need in the management of their business,” said Blaine Duncan, manager of Cargill’s Prairieland f arm s ervice g roup. “We remain deeply committed to our farm and upstream customers and will provide an enhanced level of customer service, support and professionalism through our realigned network.  We will continue to evolve our operations in order to provide solutions on which farmers can depend.”
