| Children's Museum and Sun Valley Foods help school children learn about agriculture

LONDON, ON – Sun Valley Foods announced its continued support of the “Farm to Fork” education program at the London Regional Children’s Museum.
The Sun Valley Cares Committee, which contributes to a variety of charitable organizations in the London community, was at the Children’s Museum today to present a $5,000 donation and to see, first-hand, the “Farm to Fork” education program. Through the program, elementary school children gain an important understanding of agriculture, of where food comes from and of how it gets to their table.
“The program is designed for students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 3,” says Meggin Helm, Manager of Learning at the Children’s Museum. “We start with children sharing their perceptions of farming and then, through discussion, crafts and examination of farm artifacts, they discover the wide array of activities that actually occur on a farm.”
“This is the second year we have supported this wonderful educational opportunity,” says Angela Dowd, Manager of Public Affairs for Sun Valley Foods. “As a food processing company, we realize the important role of agriculture. This program reaches children in an engaging, involving way that helps them see the importance of farming as well.”
Sun Valley Foods, a division of Cargill Limited, supplies chicken and beef to the Canadian food service industry and employs approximately 800 people in London. The London Regional Children’s Museum provides a playful learning environment that engages children through hands-on exhibits and interactive experiences.
