| Cargill Partnership Brings Life To Children's Hospital Emergency
November 24, 2004
The Children’s Hospital Foundation received a generous $60,000 donation from Cargill Limited to upgrade the Emergency Room at the Children’s Hospital and make it a kid-friendly environment where children will feel more safe and comfortable during what can otherwise be a frightening experience.
On Thursday, November 25 th, 2004 at 11:00 am, the Children’s Hospital Foundation will be recognizing and thanking Cargill for caring for kids. Media are welcome to attend. (Please note, due to patient privacy, visuals have been prepared and will be available for any interested TV media. Some photography can be accommodated on-site for print media.)
“Coming to the Emergency can be scary for kids. An environment that is comfortable is vital to helping calm their fears and distract them while they receive care,” said Gloria Kirouac, Manager of Patient Services at Children’s Hospital.
Cargill was intent on a partnership that would create a much warmer environment and positive experience for children receiving treatment. From the beautiful fish tank to the creative artwork commissioned specifically for this project, the Children’s Hospital Emergency Department has been transformed into a space that is a vibrant, relaxing atmosphere that eases the discomfort of being in a hospital.
“We have long recognized the Children’s Hospital as a major pillar of care for our community, said Kerry Hawkins, President of Cargill Limited. “This partnership is about significantly improving the experience for the children and their families. It is about making them feel at home.”
“The Children’s Hospital Foundation strives to ensure that children have access to the best medical care possible. The Foundation provides funding for research, programs and equipment at Children’s Hospital,” said Jim Rae, Member of the Board of Directors, Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. “Thanks to the generous support of Cargill, we’re making a difference in the lives of children.”
This event will be taking place near the Children’s Hospital Emergency. Media attending this event should go the offices of the Children’s Hospital Foundation CE501-840 Sherbrook Street.
