AgHorizons Supports Local Child Care
M arch 17, 2004
CARBERRY, MB – Along with funding from other private
and public sources, Cargill AgHorizons will donate $10,000
over the next five years to support the Carberry Child Care
Cooperative over the long term.
Cargill AgHorizons contributes to the community through a
variety of charitable funding and sponsorship programs throughout
the province.
“Cargill has a reputation for supporting local initiatives
that serve as the foundation in the many communities where
we live and do business. We’re very pleased that we
could become a long- term partner in helping the Child Care
Cooperative improve the delivery of essential child care services
for the families in Carberry and the surrounding area,”
said Lars Petersen, FSC manager for AgHorizons’ Carberry
location.
Cargill AgHorizons’ five-year funding commitment will
directly support the incurred capital costs in building the
provincially licensed childcare facility. The new center will
accommodate 75 children from the ages of 12 weeks to 12 years
of age and will boast 4800 square feet.
“The cooperative certainly looks forward to working
with local Cargill employees to offer farm safety lessons
to all our children to promote safety of the farm and help
reduce accidents and fatalities. Their monetary donation and
commitment to educate and inform our children will make a
positive and lasting impact. We cannot thank them enough for
their generous and timely contribution,” said Robyne
Frederiksen, Chair for the Child Care Cooperative Building
Committee.
Since 1975, the volunteer Board of Directors for the Child
Care Cooperative has delivered a highly effective school readiness
program and has now decided to take on the responsibility
of providing full-time childcare services. Additional programs
will be offered that concentrate on informing and helping
parents/guardians with the important life long journey of
child rearing through parental resource center that will enhance
stronger and healthier families.
On Thursday March 25th, 2004, Cargill AgHorizons’ Lars
Petersen will present Robyne Frederiksen, Chair for the Child
Care Cooperative, with the donation. The presentation is scheduled
for 10am, and will take place at the Nursery School Hut located
on the west side of RJ Waugh Elementary school facing Main
Street in Carberry, Manitoba.
The Carberry Child Care Cooperate has a mission to offer a
facility that will promote programs which will enhance and
improve the well being of children within the town of Carberry
and the surrounding area by offering flexible, professional,
educated and dedicated childcare.
