Cargill AgHorizons Assists Local Project

February 5, 2004

Cargill AgHorizons is helping to rebuild a local arena with a donation to the town of Grimshaw.

The Cargill AgHorizons Farm Service Group in Rycroft, Alberta, has donated $5,000 towards a reconstruction project to help repair severe damage to the Grimshaw arena that occurred when a tornado swept through the community on June 30th, 2003.

“By contributing to the reconstruction of this vital pillar, we are helping to restore more than just an arena, but an overall sense of community to the benefit of local business, families and our employees,” said Walter Burton, Farm Service Group Manager, Cargill AgHorizons.

Cargill AgHorizons has joined others in the community in funding the $1.4 million project. The decision to repair the arena over complete replacement will save an estimated $2 million. The work is already underway and scheduled for completion by March 31, 2004.

“Cargill is dedicated to enriching local communities and making a positive and lasting impact where we live and work,” noted Robert Meijer, director of Public Affairs for Cargill Limited.
