| Town of Essex Mural Committee and Cargill AgHorizons celebrate memory of Joan Flood
July 17, 2003
Cargill AgHorizons is honored to join the Town of Essex Mural
Committee in a mural dedication ceremony in loving memory
of Joan Flood, a former mayor of Essex and Cargill AgHorizons
employee.
The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday July 20, 2003
in front of the 50-foot mural entitled, “A New Era”
on Irwin Ave. in Essex, Ontario. A reception is to follow
at the Historical Essex Railway Station.
“Throughout her career with Cargill AgHorizons and
during her time as mayor of Essex, Joan was a tireless supporter
of the community. She was active in encouraging young people,
especially women, to strive for their dreams. This memorial
is a celebration of Joan’s life and family and will
serve as a reminder of her many contributions,” said
Philip Szalich, Cargill AgHorizon’s farm service group
manager and former colleague of Flood’s.
For its part, Cargill AgHorizons will donate $2,500 towards
the mural as part of the dedication ceremony. Cargill Limited
contributes to communities across the country through a number
of different sponsorship programs and charitable donations.
