| BBQ Canada Challenge
A Project of Kinsmen & Kinette Clubs
of Canada
August 12, 2003
Best Beef Quality (BBQ) Canada is pleased to announce that
a major partner in the Canadian beef industry will help support
its National Beef Challenge. Cargill Foods of High River Alberta
has agreed to supply a significant portion of beef as part
of BBQ Canada’s coast-to-coast Labour Day event, to
show overwhelming support by Canadians for the beef industry.
“Due to Cargill Food’s commitment to this project
and to the support from thousands of Canadian beef producers
so deeply affected by the BSE situation, the BBQ Canada Challenge
will become a reality,” said Joe Acker, Project Manager
for BBQ Canada.
Cargill has provided 100,000 pounds of regular ground beef
for the large national events, expected to attract one million
people as a demonstration of Canadian’s faith in the
safety of our beef. BBQ Canada and the Kinsmen have also worked
with producers and various retailers to bring another 300,000
pounds of purchased and donated beef to the table for the
Labour Day event.
“Cargill Foods is proud to be a major sponsor of this
national event. BBQ Canada has proven once again that when
Canadians pull together so much can be achieved. The Kinsmen
and Kinettes have remained dedicated to serving communities
and their special needs, and Cargill is pleased to assist
them in making this happen,” said Robert Meijer, Director
of Public Affairs for Cargill Limited.
