off 2002 United Way campaign

Winnipeg, MB – Cargill Limited is proud to once again
partner with United Way in its annual fundraising drive at
the company’s head office.
The agri-food company has demonstrated corporate leadership
through a 2:1 matching program that is unique among the Top
50 corporate donors. For every $1 raised by employees, the
company donates $2.
“As Winnipeggers, we have a long and proud history
of helping one another. Now more than ever, we must continue
to extend this helping hand to the individuals and families
who are being affected by many unfortunate circumstances,”
says Kerry Hawkins, President, Cargill Limited.
Cargill Limited maintains United Way corporate recognition
status as a Gold Community Builder (United Way corporate funding
between $50,000 and $74,999) and over 90 per cent participation
from employees. The company has also received recognition
as one of the Top 50 Workplace Campaigns along with such companies
as Investors Group, JRI and Great West Life.

Cargill Limited officially kicked off its annual United Way
campaign on October 23. The campaign runs until October 29.
A number of activities are planned during fundraising week,
including lunch hour games that encourage employee involvement,
theme days and a tour of United Way agencies.
Cargill Limited is one of Canada’s largest agricultural
merchandisers and processors with interests in grain handling/merchandising
and crop inputs, meat, egg, malt and oilseed processing, as
well as animal feed, salt, starch and fertilizer manufacturing.
Cargill employs approximately 5,000 employees at various locations
across the country. Cargill Limited is a past recipient of
the Globe and Mail’s Best Companies to Work for in Canada
listing for two consecutive years.
United Way of Winnipeg is an independent, nonpolitical organization
that builds upon the strength of volunteers and voluntary
action by engaging the whole community for the benefit of
