September 10, 2002 Winnipeg
The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba is pleased to announce
Cargill Limited as a new corporate partner for the Podium
Program. Cargill has partnered with Taekwondo athlete and
Olympic Bronze Medallist Dominique Bosshart. Dominique has
won 10 national Taekwondo titles as well as a Bronze medal
at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
"Cargill funds a variety of programs through Cargill
Cares, our charitable donations committee. Our mandate is
simple: to bring value to the communities where we live and
do business."
"It didn't take a lot to convince us why we should support
the Podium Program and Dominique in her Olympic pursuit. She's
an incredible athlete and she's one of ours. Dominique made
us proud in Sydney and we know she'll make us proud again
at the Olympics in Athens," says Angela Dowd, Communications
Officer for Cargill Limited.
The Podium Program is an initiative where companies support
athletes as they pursue their athletic dreams. The program
is designed to put money directly in the hands of athletes.
The Podium Program is about building partnerships between
Manitoba's promising high performance athletes and the communities
in which they live, train and do us proud. This program is
not only designed to help current high performance athletes
but also those athletes who will be tomorrow's heroes.
Cargill Limited participates in a number of community sponsorship
programs throughout the province. As the title sponsor of
the Cargill Games for over 20 years, Cargill Limited has been
providing a competition venue for Olympic-calibre track athletes
and young rising stars of tomorrow. Cargill Limited, headquartered
in Winnipeg, has interests in meat, egg and oilseed processing,
feed, salt and fertilizer manufacturing, as well as grain
handling and merchandizing.
