Cargill AgHorizons partial closure

July 24, 2002.

Winkler, MB - Effective August 1, 2002, Cargill AgHorizons in Winkler will close its grain elevator. In this partial closure, the Cargill AgHorizons crop inputs facility, located at the same site, will remain open to provide customers with a full range of agricultural products and services.

The closing of the grain elevator in Winkler is a reality to current changes seen throughout the grain industry. Although producers will no longer be able to deliver grain to the facility after the end of July, Cargill AgHorizons will continue to offer on-farm grain pick up for farm customers in the area and deliver it to the company's elevators in Morris and Elm Creek. Directing grain to larger terminal elevators will allow for more timely deliveries and more competitive offerings said Grant Recksiedler, Farm Marketing Representative in Winkler.

"The crop input facility continues to be a key part of our long-term business and will remain open, continuing to grow through custom application, agronomic consulting and a full line of fertilizer, seed and crop protection," said Recksiedler.

Cargill AgHorizons operates grain handling and crop inputs facilities across the Prairies and works in partnership with producers to develop grain marketing solutions.
