Cargill Foods on Discovery Channel

High River, Alberta - The Cargill Foods beef processing plant will be featured in a television segment today that shows the science and technology involved in ground beef production as part of the Discovery Channel's "Science to Go" series.

"The Discovery Channel feature gives us the opportunity to demonstrate the process we have in place to ensure safety and high quality beef products for consumers. It also gives our employees and the community in High River a chance for some well-deserved national recognition," says Brian Derksen, General Manager for Cargill Foods.

The footage was shot last August and takes viewers through the process of ground beef production. The air dates are as follows:

July 23, 2002
7:30 p.m. & 11:30 p.m. (EASTERN time)

July 24, 2002
9:30 a.m. (EASTERN time)

Cargill Foods began operations in High River 1989. The beef processing facility employs 2,000 and processes 4,000 head of cattle each day. Cargill Foods recently received the prestigious Alberta Worksafe Award of Distinction for its excellence in safety and commitment to industry, community and employees.
