Cargill Foods donates to DARE

September 10, 2002 High River, Alberta - Cargill Foods will donate $5,000 to the local chapter of Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) at the non-profit organization's annual Charity Golf Tournament on September 11.

"The DARE program has had a proven effect in its efforts to educate students on the pitfalls of drug and alcohol abuse. We saw this as a very worthwhile cause and are proud to support the work they are doing," says Jared Snyder, chair of Cargill Foods donations committee.

The donation will be used to fund DARE programs at schools in the local community.

"Cargill Foods is very much a part of the Foothills community and the DARE Works Society is very proud to accept their generous support. This will enable us to expand the DARE program to now include the Grade 8 follow-up course and this will reach over 600 junior high students. The grade 8 program has been a goal of our society, the parents and teachers in this community over the past two years, so we are very pleased to announce Cargill Foods as our first major
corporate sponsor," states executive director Lori Czerwinski.

DARE provides children with the information and skills they need to live drug-and-violence-free lives by establishing positive relationships between students and law enforcement, teachers, parents and other community leaders.
