Cargill’s Energy, Transportation and Metals (Cargill ETM) today announced it is donating $30,000 to Projet 80, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to partnering with schools in Montréal’s Centre-Sud district. The projects is committed to help provide youth with an opportunity to broaden their education through discovering new passions outside of the traditional classroom setting.
Cargill to outsource its transportation needs at its Guelph meat processing facility

Cargill today announced that effective February 2013, it will be outsourcing its transportation needs at its Guelph, Ontario, beef processing facility to a third party provider. The decision was based on Cargill’s commitment to operate its business in a cost competitive manner, allowing for greater flexibility and efficiency in the marketplace.

Cargill today reported net earnings of $975 million in the fiscal 2013 first quarter ended Aug. 31, compared with $236 million in the same period a year ago. First-quarter revenues were $33.8 billion compared with $34.6 billion in the year-ago period.

Cargill today reported $1.17 billion in earnings from continuing operations in the 2012 fiscal year ended May 31, 2012, a 56 percent decrease from a record $2.69 billion in the prior year. Fourth-quarter earnings were $73 million, down 82 percent from $404 million in the same period a year ago.
