Cargill Value Added Meats recognized as leaders in the Canadian food production industry
LONDON, Ontario – Sept. 12, 2011 – It was recently announced that Cargill Value Added Meats Canada in London is one of the 20 recipients of the Canada Awards for Excellence from Excellence Canada (formerly National Quality Institute). They are being recognized for outstanding achievements in quality, customer service and a healthy work place.
This prestigious recognition did not happen by chance. “Ultimately, quality and food safety come down to our people,” said Hans Kabat, Managing Director, Cargill Value Added Meats Canada. “At Cargill, we maintain a dedicated leadership group, which provides direction in food safety, animal health and quality assurance. Each of our 1,100 stakeholders has an important role in providing great quality products to Canadian consumers every day.”
Cargill is being awarded the Gold Trophy Award in the Quality Award (private sector) category. This award is based on the Canadian Framework for Excellence, which is used by numerous organizations as a management model for continuous improvement and operational practices. To receive the Gold Trophy, Cargill had to fully meet Excellence Canada’s Quality Criteria, with documented overall achievements and results. The results demonstrated that Cargill’s greatest strength areas are customer relations, supplier relations and leadership.
Chair of Excellence Canada, Gary Seveny, described the recipients as “world-class organizations” and companies who are “outstanding role models in leadership, customer service and employee relations”. Seveny also noted that these combined factors all play a critical role in the positive impact and growth of the Canadian economy.
